ANTON GAZENBEEK & JODY PERSON

Antón Gazenbeek is one of the leading experts in Argentine Tango today. Even at his young age he has taught, performed and choreographed on five continents, lectured at the foremost universities in the world including Stanford University, Harvard, MIT, as well as at the Argentine Embassy in Washington, D.C. and across North and South America, Asia and Europe. He has published the first two books in a series of four on the history of tango and his second book, A Selection of Writings on Argentine Tango, which extensively covers the life of Maestro Antonio Todaro has placed Mr. Gazenbeek as the world authority on the life and work of this great dance master. In addition to his books, Mr. Gazenbeek has developed the most popularly sold and highly rated Argentine Tango teaching DVDs in the world.
Extensively trained in authentic Argentine Tango, Classical Ballet, and Adagio Liftwork, he teaches daily private and group classes open to the public (see Class Schedule for more info.).
When not coaching other dance couples, training teachers, lecturing and writing, Mr. Gazenbeek performs internationally with renowned symphony orchestras, leading musicians and singers and choreographs for shows and other productions.
Mr. Gazenbeek is the owner of the largest historical tango film archive in the world. After almost two decades of traveling the world collecting rare material, the archive now stands at well over 8,500 hours of film footage of Argentine Tango from 1911 to 2013.
Dancer, Choreographer, Model
Jody P. Person has been working in the entertainment industry for most of his life. He started training in theatre and dance in 1987. He has thrilled audiences with his tango performances from Paris to Berlin, Trinidad to New York City. Jody often performs with the world renowned Antón Gazenbeek. They have been seen performing together on Univisión TV, at The Black and White Ball, All Night Milonga, The Ball NY, and all the major dance studios in NY and NJ. With his female partner Svetlana Keselman, he has performed at the Broadway Theatre of Pitman, NJ inVaudeville at the Broadway. Jody received his M.F.A. in Directing from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts, and he earned a B.A. in Drama and Dance from SUNY Purchase, where he received the Abbot Kaplan Award and Frank Wadsworth Drama Prize. He also studied Southeast Asian Dance at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. Jody has danced, acted, and directed in several NYC Theatres, some credits include: Writing Ground Zero (Dixon Place/The Raw Space), "Mixed Up Molly Eden" (Surf Reality), "The Lady of Larkspur Lotion" (Roger Hendrick Simon Studio), Bones and "The Existence of Being (or Am I Here?)" (TSI), and Radium(The Jewel Box Theatre). He taught acting for youth at the Harlem Children's Zone (TRUCE), and continues to directed productions at several colleges/universities, and is currently the Program Coordinator for Theater and Dance at Mercer County Community College. His tango teachers include Anton Gazenbeek, Claudio Villagra, Romina Levin, Rebecca Shulman, Mariana Parma, Rosa Collantes, Jean Fung, Evan Griffiths, and Fran Chesleigh.
